Da Tang International Entrepreneurial Management Competency Certificate

In China Program Description
The Da Tang International Entrepreneurial Management Competency Certificate Program is made up of a series of programs in which each program group meets once or twice a week for a period of six to twelve weeks. Participants can enroll for individual programs in subjects for which they have an interest or enroll for a series of programs for the purpose(s) of; (1.) Gaining the competencies necessary to become employed by multinational companies; (2.) successfully planning and executing entrepreneurial projects within existing companies; (3.) planning and executing individual entrepreneurial efforts from the time of forming a start-up company to the attainment of an initial public offering of shares with a listing of the shares on an international exchange or the accomplishment of a merger or acquisition; (4) Receiving the Da Tang International Entrepreneurial Management Competency Certificate or; (5) For any combination of (1), (2), (3) and (4).

Team-Based Learning
Participants in each program are taught by a team of permanent Da Tang instructors and business executives from Da Tang’s family of Multi-National and Chinese Companies. Da Tang’s instructors as well as the business executives collaborate to integrate content across programs and to introduce China-relevant innovative ideas and approaches to learning.

In addition to the regular program sessions, participants attending the programs work in teams of four to five members to tackle special projects and to present their results to the group as a whole. Teams are carefully assembled to include a balance of strengths and interests and to facilitate effective collaboration on assignments and team-based exams. This team-based approach to both teaching and learning is emphasized in all of the programs and is intended to serve as a model of the environments in which participants will work in the future.

Case Method
The Da Tang Certificate Program brings the complex realities of business into the classroom in a variety of powerful ways. The case method - the primary form of instruction - is based on interactive engagement between participant and faculty and the first-hand accounts of actual management situations experienced by companies in China as presented by the business executives from Da Tang’s family of participating companies.

We have learned that managers learn from experience - by doing, observing, interacting with others, and soliciting and absorbing feedback. Knowledge is obtained and retained through active participation in its construction and use. With this in mind, the Da Tang Learning Model has been developed to work in tandem with the case method in simulating the managerial work experience as closely as possible. With case studies as the primary vehicle for learning, participants examine problem-focused situations that are managerially relevant, intellectually and emotionally engaging, and highly interactive. These studies not only develop the skills required to deal with management issues on a daily basis but also foster the attitudes and behaviors required in today’s complex and continuously changing business world. The Da Tang cases are formed around the constraints and often incomplete information available when a decision has to be made in a real business situation. Participants are asked to place themselves in the positions of the managers described in the case and to perform analyses and recommend modules of action without benefit of prior knowledge of outcomes.

Competency Standards and Evaluation
For participants who wish to enroll in a series of programs to gain the competencies necessary to become employed by multinational companies, enrollment is proceeded by a Managerial Competency Examination based on standards provided by Da Tang’s family of participating companies. Based on the results of the Managerial Competency Examination, a program of participation is designed beginning at the appropriate level for each participant.

Upon completion of the entire program, the participant is again tested for the employer-based Managerial Competency Standards. If the participant reaches the high standards of the managerial competency exam, Da Tang will issue the participant the Da Tang International Entrepreneurial Management Competency Certificate and help arrange for employment interviews with the corporate members of Da Tang’s family of participating companies.

For any participant who does not do well enough on the management competency exam to qualify for the Competency Certificate, the participant will be allowed to retake the relevant programs at no additional charge and provided individual tutoring, as necessary, with no charge until the participant is qualified to receive the Da Tang International Entrepreneurial Management Competency Certificate and to qualify for the arrangement of employment interviews with members of Da Tang’s family of participating companies.
